Meet the Team
AssetMark’s executive team brings deep, hands-on leadership across investments, advisor technology, operations, sales, and practice management—focused on helping financial advisors serve clients more effectively and grow with confidence. This team brings over 70 years of tenure at AssetMark and more than 180 years of financial services/wealth management experience, combining long-tenured firm builders with leaders from large, global financial institutions.
Together, they translate strategy into advisor-ready solutions—curated investment and planning capabilities, scalable service and custody support, disciplined risk and compliance oversight, and continued innovation across the platform—so advisors can spend more time with clients and less time navigating complexity.

As the Chairman and Group Chief Executive, Officer Lou Mauri brings over three decades of financial services experience to the role, with a track record of driving innovation, growth, and operational success.
Lou joined AssetMark following a tenure at State Street, where he served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Investment Services. In these roles, he was responsible for overseeing global investment services, managing over 30,000 employees, and leading initiatives that enhanced the firm’s technology, operations, and client outcomes. Lou is known for his commitment to building high-performance team cultures.
Before joining State Street, Lou held senior roles at BNY Mellon and co-founded Eagle Investment Systems, which was later acquired by BNY Mellon. He began his career in the early 1990s at State Street as a VP of Technology.
Lou is a recognized industry voice on leadership, innovation, and the future of wealth management, and is frequently quoted by leading financial services publications including InvestmentNews and The Daily Upside. He is also a contributor to Forbes Finance Council, where he writes on leadership and management topics for senior financial services executives, drawing on his experience leading complex, global organizations.
Beyond his professional work, Lou is committed to community impact, serving on the Boston Public Library Fund Board and supporting the Esperanza Academy in Lawrence, MA.

Michael Kim is the Chief Executive Officer and President of AssetMark. With more than 30 years of industry experience, he has set the strategic vision for the firm, which encompasses AssetMark’s platform of curated investments, technology solutions, business consulting, operations support, and M&A that serve the best interests of financial advisors and their investors.
Michael joined AssetMark in 2010 and has held a number of leadership positions, including Head of National Sales and Consulting, Chief Client Officer, and President / CEO (2021–Present). Michael was instrumental during AssetMark’s leveraged buyout transition to Genstar in 2013, its sale to Huatai Securities in 2016, its IPO in 2019, and its sale to GTCR in 2024.
Before joining AssetMark, Michael was an executive at Fidelity’s Institutional Wealth Services, serving over 3,000 advisory firms. He began his career in public accounting at Coopers & Lybrand, LLC.
Michael is a recognized thought leader in wealth management, frequently sought out as a speaker, contributor, and quoted expert on advisor trends, practice management, and the evolving independent advice model. He regularly speaks at major industry conferences such as Schwab IMPACT and is cited in leading publications including Barron’s Advisor, InvestmentNews, and WealthManagement.com.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Michael Abelson is the Executive Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships, responsible for developing and commercializing strategic alliances that support advisor and investor needs. He also leads strategic projects for the senior leadership team, ensuring alignment with the firm’s long-term goals.
Mike joined AssetMark in 1994 and has held various leadership roles with responsibilities spanning investment and product development, operations and service, project management, and corporate development.
Mike earned an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Ted Angus is the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal, Compliance and Risk Officer at AssetMark, where he is responsible for leading the Legal, Compliance, Risk and Information Security teams. Ted provides strategic guidance and ensures the firm’s operations align with regulatory and legal requirements.
With over 30 years of experience counseling financial services companies, Ted joined AssetMark after serving as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Charles Schwab. Prior to Charles Schwab, Ted practiced as a securities litigator, specializing in securities arbitrations, SEC investigations, and shareholder class actions.
Ted earned his J.D. from UC Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings) and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Economics from UCLA.

Gaurav Auditya is the Executive Vice President and Head of Client Operations at AssetMark, where he oversees the firm’s core operational functions in support of financial advisors and their clients. With more than 25 years of experience in financial services, Gaurav has played a central role in building and scaling industry‑leading platforms that deliver operational excellence, reliability, and growth.
Gaurav has played a key role in AssetMark’s growth and evolution. During his tenure, he has helped guide the expansion of the platform from approximately $4 billion to more than $160 billion in assets, supporting the firm’s ability to deliver a reliable, high‑quality experience as advisors grow their practices.
Known for his disciplined, systems‑driven approach, Gaurav focuses on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation. He works closely with cross‑functional teams to align operational capabilities with AssetMark’s strategic priorities and long‑term growth objectives.
Gaurav is actively involved in the community and serves on the emeritus board of New Pathways for Youth and previously served on the board for Caurus Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Management Information Systems from Syracuse University.

Heather Gille is the Executive Vice President and Chief People and Administrative Officer at AssetMark, where she leads enterprise-wide people, culture, and operational strategy for an organization supporting over $125 billion in platform assets. A trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, she is known for building high-performance organizations that accelerate growth, strengthen leadership pipelines, and drive measurable business outcomes. Since joining AssetMark, Heather has elevated the People function into a strategic driver of the business, enhancing performance and feedback cultures, increasing leadership bench strength, and delivering multimillion-dollar operational efficiencies that enable the company to scale with agility and discipline.
With more than 20 years of global leadership experience, Heather has led transformative people strategies across technology, healthcare, consulting, and retail sectors, contributing to over $17 billion in successful transactions, including IPO readiness, acquisitions, and integrations. She previously served as Chief People Officer at Grammarly and Certinia, and held senior leadership roles at Glu Mobile, McKesson, and Gap Inc. Recognized as an award-winning HR leader, her work has earned top rankings for culture and leadership, including Newsweek’s Global Most Loved Workplaces.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Santa Clara University and is an active advisor and member of leading workforce and HR organizations.

Carrie Hansen is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at AssetMark, where she leads the firm’s Operations and Service functions as well as many of the corporate strategic initiatives for the firm, including the RIA Strategic Vision and AssetMark’s Adhesion business. In addition, Carrie oversees all custodial relationships, including AssetMark Trust Company, where she serves as Chairman of the Board. She is also responsible for managing the integration strategy and execution process, ensuring that AssetMark and its acquired entities perform and operate together seamlessly to maximize enterprise value. Carrie also serves as President and Chairman of the Board of AssetMark’s proprietary mutual fund family, overseeing three fund trusts comprising 15 mutual funds for which AssetMark serves as adviser. Additionally, she is the President of AssetMark’s proprietary broker-dealer, AssetMark Brokerage, LLC.
Carrie joined AssetMark in 2000 and has held several key leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chief Information Officer. Before joining AssetMark, she worked at Barclays Global Investors, where she led the Investment Operations Group in the Tokyo, Japan office. Carrie also spent several years as an audit manager at Coopers & Lybrand, LLC (now PwC).
Carrie earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds Series 6 and 26 licenses.

Anthony Huynh is the Executive Vice President and Head of Advisor Sales at AssetMark, where he is responsible for leading the AssetMark Ensemble Teams that support financial advisors nationwide. Anthony has over 25 years of industry experience building and expanding sales and distribution teams focused on helping independent broker-dealers and RIA advisors grow their businesses.
Anthony joined AssetMark in 1997 and has held various key roles in sales and distribution Leadership prior to his current role.
Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He spends his free time with his wife and their three children.

David McNatt is the Executive Vice President and Chief Wealth Solutions Officer at AssetMark. In this role, David is responsible for leading the Corporate Strategy team and overseeing the teams that provide clients and advisors with a comprehensive range of wealth management solutions. His work ensures that AssetMark’s offerings, which have significantly expanded over the years, meet the diverse financial needs of clients. These solutions span Investments, Custodial Services, Trading as a Service, Retirement, and Advanced Planning.
David joined AssetMark with over 20 years of experience in product and investment management. Prior to his current role, he served as the Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Management, where he focused on the development and delivery of new product solutions to AssetMark’s platform. Before joining AssetMark, David was with Russell Investments, where he was responsible for the smart beta index product business and collaborated closely with strategic partners and the institutional sales organization to educate clients on the application of smart beta strategies. David also spent more than eight years at Charles Schwab as the Managing Director of Product Strategy and Development.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a minor in Economics from the University of South Florida. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Esi Minta-Jacobs is the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to the CEO at AssetMark. In this role, Esi is focused on executing the CEO’s priorities and initiatives that align with the organization’s strategy, guiding senior leaders and administrative staff, and leading key leadership committees. She supports efforts aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency and plays a key role in building relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, investors, and external solution providers.
Esi joined AssetMark in 2015 as the Project Management Office Leader. Under her leadership, the team grew, and her responsibilities expanded to encompass program management across the entire organization, including digital platforms, client experience operations, technology, and mergers and acquisitions. She later became the head of AssetMark’s Human Resources and Digital Product Solutions teams, working with the executive team and functional leaders on the firm’s strategic initiatives.
Previously, Esi was a Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo, overseeing international operations, strategic planning, and program delivery, and a Partner Integration Manager at PeopleSoft. She has also held management consulting roles at Grant Thornton International and PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand).
Esi earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Northeastern University.

Alex Pape is the Executive Vice President and Chief Product and Technology Officer at AssetMark, where he leads the firm’s technology and product strategy in support of financial advisors and their clients. He oversees product, engineering, design, data, infrastructure, and solution engineering to deliver technology solutions for our advisors, their clients, and our internal teams. He also oversees Voyant, our financial planning software business.
Previously, Alex served as Global Head of Product for BlackRock’s Aladdin WealthTech business, where he led product strategy and development for one of the industry’s leading technology platforms. He brings deep experience translating sophisticated technology into practical solutions in wealth and asset management.
Alex earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Alyson Tucci is the Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, guiding the company’s vision for long-term growth and value creation. She is responsible for defining strategic priorities and leading the transactions that accelerate the company’s trajectory. She also hosts a biweekly podcast with Barron’s Advisor, interviewing leaders in wealth and asset management who focus on improving their business.
Prior to joining AssetMark, Alyson worked at Alvarez & Marsal Financial Services Industry Group in New York. There, she focused on providing comprehensive support from set-up through value creation to exit readiness to wealth managers and their investors/sponsors, with a focus on the RIA business. Other work includes Partner and Head of Strategic Partnerships at Cerity Partners, Head of Business Management at JPMorgan Wealth Management, technology strategy and implementation at EY, and time spent at Morgan Stanley, where she focused on building and leveraging the IT investment to generate business, with a focus on M&A (e.g., Dell/EMC, Microsoft/LinkedIn), private equity and expansion capital on behalf of firm’s management.
Alyson earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business, and a minor in Business Law and Corporate Governance from Villanova University. She also earned her Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Accounting, Organizations, and Institutions.

Gary Zyla is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AssetMark, where he is responsible for corporate finance areas, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Business Intelligence, Budget & Expense Management, and Financial Reporting.
Gary joined AssetMark in 2011 as CFO, where he built a world-class finance team and played a key role in major milestones, including guiding the business through the company’s carve-out in 2013, its 2016 sale to HTSC, its 2019 initial public offering, and the go-private in 2024. In addition to his work in finance, Gary also led Human Resources at AssetMark for seven years, and has overseen the Marketing, Communications, and Risk organizations.
Prior to joining AssetMark, Gary held roles at Genworth Financial in both the corporate and U.S. life insurance segments, where he led the Capital Management team and served as Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis. Before Genworth, Gary worked as an actuary and financial analyst in New York and Washington, DC.
Gary earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Math and History from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
